A highly popular, approachable everyday Italian red wine. Crafted by oenologist Daniele Ress in collaboration with the 150 growers of the Vallebelbo cooperative (hence the name "150+1"), this vintage blends the classic juicy freshness of Barbera with a small structure-boosting addition of Nebbiolo. The 2023 vintage presents an intense ruby-red colour in the glass. It skips the heavy, aggressive tannins found in pure Nebbiolo wines, leaning instead into a smooth, bistro-friendly character.
Aromas: Prominent ripe red fruits (raspberry, cherry) accompanied by soft floral notes and hints of vanilla or spice from its brief time in oak.
Palate: Full-bodied, round, and soft on the tongue. It shows low-to-medium powdery tannins and slightly lower acidity than standard rustic Barberas, giving it an easy-drinking texture.
Finish: A smooth finish marked by distinctive notes of soft dark chocolate, liquorice, and black pepper.
97/100 Luca Maroni; 87/100 Decanter World Wine Awards
Because of its balanced, medium-weight profile and soft tannins, this wine is highly versatile at the dinner table. It pairs exceptionally well with:
Hearty pasta dishes and cold cured meats (charcuterie)
Mature cheeses
Roasted poultry, duck, or game birds
Dark chocolate desserts (matching the wine's cocoa undertones)
